IMPERSONA
[Wearable Illustrations]

WEARABLE ILLUSTRATIONS

Wearable Illustrations explores the world of cosplay in a global context. It was the first phase of the research on my thesis topic. The choice of this topic stem from my experiences during my travels in the Summer of 2023, where I visited various comic conventions in southeast Asia (SEA), where the atmosphere and scale of the conventions far exceeded what I’ve pesonally experienced in Qatar.

Cosplay is considered a common activity in SEA whilst it’s still considered a niche in Qatar. Wearable Illustrations gives an insight to those who are unfamiliar with the activity and showcases a different creative perspective in the design industry.

thesis ideas exploration

Impersona explores the world of cosplay in the local context of Qatar. While considered a niche, it still continues to develop and expand in relative to the growth of the animation, comics, and game (ACG) community.

My thesis focused on the limited exposure of cosplay culture in Qatar, as well as the resource availability and accessability.
